The adventure of Urbana Farm started in Southern Pines, NC in 2011 by offering boarding and training. Training was oriented towards young horses to start under saddle ( 3yo or older) or retraining "difficult" horses. The adventure included some breeding with a stallion from Europe Cyr Na Nog Z.
In July 2024, Urbana Farm relocated to Aiken SC, with a new orientation towards body work, physiotherapy and osteopathy.
Urbana Farm is sponsoring the Santana Center equine rescue organization offering free osteopathic sessions on the horses of the center and one free session to the horses who have been adopted from the center. Click on Santana Center to be redirected to their website.
The name of Urbana Farm comes from Urbana Ohio. When I was living in Raleigh, my neighbor and friend offered me a barn trunk to restore. This trunk belonged to her grand farther, Bob Seabrook, who was a trainer for harness horses in Urbana Ohio. The trunk was used to store extra pairs of shoes for race days. I had the privilege to meet his ex-wife and daughter who used to work with him at the stable and the track. He believed that women were best to take care of horses. One day, while joking, I said to my friend, I will name my farm Urbana farm and you should name your farm Seabrook!.....
